“Decision Tuesday.” That’s what’s sputterin’ around the media here in Florida today. It’s election day. We get to choose who we want in the next round of choosing (aka voting).

If you stop and think about it, we choose a lot of stuff … but do we really? I can’t remember if it was Dad, or Pappeye, or Mom, or pretty much any of the really smart folks that taught me growing up, but they all said the same thing: in reality there’s only two family members we ever get to choose. The rest come along for the ride. Your spouse and your church.

When you think about it, that’s about as smart as you can get, ’cause it’s true. ’Cept in Toni and my case we were extra lucky, ‘cause we actually did get to choose our son too (adoptions are awesome!) But for the most part, kids, church members, in-laws, heck even pastors (don’t read into anything here, Pastor John!), they come with the choices of spouse and church. So we best take those two commitments very seriously.
Having said all that about choosing also got me thinkin’ about what our choices say about us … who we choose to stand with, and who we choose to deny.

Rahab chose to risk her life to hide Joshua’s spies and hang that scarlet cord out the window because she knew those men were with God. One woman’s choice marked her whole household for rescue.
And the woman who had been afflicted twelve years trusted Jesus enough to believe that just touching the hem of His garment would heal her. He not only healed her, He stopped everything and honored her faith in front of the crowd.
Choices matter.

Just a thought from a guy who falls a little more in love every day with that same girl I was lucky enough to have choose me over two decades ago … and still can’t believe it. (and, please, nobody choose to tell her she’s out of her mind for stayin’ with me!)

What choices are you most proud of??? (This is one you don’t have to share … just want you to smile as you think of them.)
