Speakers… I remember in the 70’s and 80’s we used to have them so big that to get them into the house you’d need a dolly, and you’d have to strategically place them far enough from the TV so the picture wouldn’t go wonky! Then by the 90’s “smaller was in,” and everything started to shrink down — you only had to hide a behemoth of a thing behind a table or sumthin’.

Headphones kinda did the same thing. Went from something that looked more like part of a helmet just carved out to fit around your ears in the 70’s, to little pads in the 80’s, to “buds” later on… and then we got all fancy with wireless after that.
And that’s just in the time of me buggin’ my folks for stuff all the way through to the present. Goin’ back further, our history has always been fascinated with being able to produce, reproduce, or amplify sounds. Sometimes we get it right… sometimes not so much.

But lemme let you in on a secret. Whether it’s bouncing off a hill on the other side of the valley during the Sermon on the Mount, or in the still soft air in front of a cave with a scared Elijah, or a burning bush in front of a startled Moses… the Holy Spirit is always as loud as He needs to be. Whispering on our souls to guide us like the Good Shepherd… always leading us to where He wants us to go. We only need to listen.

Just a thought from a guy who may have a few Bluetooth headphones for his devices… but knows Who is truly worth listening to.
