TGIF … C’mon … You’ve heard it. Everyone’s always happy about “Friday” (depending on what your work schedule is, it may not actually be that day of the week).
For years I couldn’t wait for Tuesdays myself. As a RadioShack manager, that’s when we could wake up two hours early, put on golf cleats instead of dress shoes, and look like fools with garden tools on a manicured backyard — paying for the privilege the whole time. 😄
And then there’s the songs… The Bay City Rollers teachin’ everyone how to spell S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y, Daniel Powter remindin’ us we can turn it around when we have a Bad Day, and not to mention the Bangles fussin’ about Manic Mondays.
Where am I goin’ with this? Lemme check my calendar and I’ll see (ha!).
I guess what I’m tryin’ to get at is that wherever we are is… well, where we’re supposed to be. God gave us free will to make both good and bad decisions. Unfortunately, He did the same for everyone else, so folks around us get to make those same kinds of choices. Sometimes that leads us into great places through no doing of our own… and sometimes into not-so-great places through no doing of our own.
What is constant is that He is with us in all of those places.
Our Bible readings today both touch on that. In the first, the three amigos end up in a horrible predicament… but God is right there with them, and they get nary a tan in that oven! In the second, the psalmist reminds us that this is the day the Lord has made.
So… anyone with me in startin’ a Wednesday chant? 😄
Just a thought from a guy who hasn’t picked up a gardening tool in over a decade… but will still stop and smell the roses.
