Livin’ in Central Florida means we’re a little (ok, a LOT) biased about space. Heck, when they created a new area code, it was 321! But even growin’ up in the Mountaineer state, I was fascinated with everything space. It’s… well… cool!!!

And the more I learned about just how LITTLE those guys had and how far they still got, it amazes me to this day.

The spacecraft that safely took astronauts to the moon and back had less read/write memory (4 KB) than what it takes to store Psalm 119. And those old disks we’ve laughed at as “obsolete” for at least three decades could store fifty times the programming that’s on little ole Voyager 1’s onboard computer. That’s the little guy that just passed outside the limits of our known solar system… and is STILL talking back to us!

The people who programmed this stuff were smart. Which reminds me of Someone (well, not really someone, but my Creator) who is beyond smart. Matter of fact, we give Him the “big three” in “omni”: omnipresent… omnipotent… and omniscient.
He literally spoke the universe into existence, knows every star in the sky, and sent His Son to save us. And while He was here, Jesus explained the kingdom of heaven not as a king on a mighty throne, but as something as small as a mustard seed — teaching us, and calling us to teach each other.

Just as we keep expanding and growing with all the new technology around us, it’s good to remember that a 50-year-old computer with less memory than most of the smartwatches we wear today has still gone farther than any human or fancy new-fangled machine.
Just sayin’….
