Memories that Last

There’s a back road we take to go from Toni’s school to the Wally World … Of course there is … That’s not the big secret … But, every time we’re on it, when we pass this one Hospice House all of a sudden a flood of memories goes through me … You see, a dear friend that i spent years with in our neighborhood spent his last few days at that facility and I’d stopped by to… Well … I’d stopped by …

I pass by his (now someone else’s) house much more often and don’t get that same flood of memories, but, it’s THAT place that does it to me every time … I don’t have a reason for it, but, thought i’d share …

Which brings me to today’s topic of Memories that Last … It’s funny how different things will bring up different memories for us … Like God’s “hard drive” of storage within ourselves … Attaching all of our senses to raw emotions and memories (good and bad) makes sure that they will stay fresh and in tact for decades instead of fading away as the hurt or grief eventually fades in time.

During the same said shopping trip today i happened across some fishing lures similar to the ones that Papa used to use and it was if i was that 12 year old kid “helping” him get the tackle box ready for a Saturday trip to the Elk river …

Each camping trip we take reminds me of all of the wonderful trips we took growing up with Dad doing everything he could to make it perfect (even when things went totally sideways) …

Seeing Dee Dee and hearing her mimic mom’s voice even after over 2 decades of her passing on is like still having a little bit mom with us each and every day …

And there’s no way i could ever forget the Cross … Anytime i see or even think of one it reminds me of just what unconditional love truly looks like and how that man, my Savior, gave His life so all of us may live …

There’s a thousand other reminders God puts around me each and every day because, let’s face it, He knows me and knows i need each and every one … And i’m so thankful for each and every one 🙂 …
