What do eggs, snakes, blood, frogs, gnats, and flies have in common ??? Welp, stick with me and you’ll find out 🙂 … You see, whilst starting breakfast for my beloved this am (she likes her eggs over hard, don’t judge!) i found that if you get the cast iron up to temp, then melt the butter and add garlic BEFORE putting in the eggs it puts a much bigger smile on her face … Now, the salt, if you add it in at the beginning, it makes it too salty …. So, we wait till the eggs are halfway cooked and THEN add the salt … Ahhh … Perfection … Happy Wife = Happy Life … (and, NO, i’m not adding any of those OTHER things i’d mentioned in the first sentence to her breakfast, that would be the OPPOSITE of happy wife :-P) …

… For those of you that are in tune with your Exodus, you’re probably aware that those are the first 4 plagues along with the introduction of Moses’ God to Pharaoh … And you’re probably wonderin’ what the connection is here … Whelp, you see, the Exodus just by itself is a powerful read, but, if you do a little research on Egyptians at the time and a little extra context and re-read it, you’ll see that God specifically was showing Pharaoh just who He was and how powerful He was … Starting with staff and systematically through the first few plagues He knew that the “magic men” of the day could replicate some of what He gave Moses the abilities to do … That was intentional … But, as He hardened Pharaoh’s heart, He kept upping the ante to show, without a doubt, what the difference was between a “little g god” and He who is simply “I Am” ….

The bible is full of rich and powerful lessons that, after learning the context of the time and society, mean so very much more than they already do on the surface … Taking an already exceptional lesson and moving it up several more notches … Literally the reason why we continue to study all our lives …

Today’s bible reading is a little longer that normal, two chapters of Exodus, but, if you can, please take the time to re-read it through the lens of today’s devotional … Just a thought from a guy that really likes his eggs over easy but will break a yolk everytime for his beloved wife !!!!
