“have you ever read the Bible” … That’s a question that i’ve both been asked and, honestly, asked … Thinkin’ on it now, boy, i don’t like that question … ‘cause, that makes it sound like it’s a book (or, series of books) … Well, i guess in the truest sense folks could call them that, but, they’re SO MUCH MORE … You see, i enjoy reading, and, there’s other books that i’ll pick up and read over and over … Take the “Dresden Files” or “Lord of the Rings” … Each time i read them i do find new details (or foreshadowing,) but, it’s still the same STORY … the Bible … Now, that’s a whole different square to circle … You see, i pray before i read, and, the Spirit guides me as I’m reading to where I am, both in life and in the moment to make sure that it’s a two way communication with my Creator … Let’s pull out my bibles here (i’m missing one that i’d loaned out to someone 25 years ago and they’ve still got it, but, in the end, that’s a win!) … and, hey, my current bible is my tablet … don’t judge the stickers, my age and my actions may not always agree 😛 … the first time i read Exodus i was a teenager … Moses was a superhero … Battling entire armies and performing miracles and talking to God! … Later i read it as a man in my twenties while managing a retail shop … Moses was the best people manager and motivator on the planet !!!! … After adopting our son, we introduced him to the bible with, you guessed it! … An entirely DIFFERENT take on Moses this time around … And since then i’ve read Exodus a few more times with different takes … And that’s not counting what i call the “flybys” where i’ll read chapters without the full book, but, as you see, God meets us where WE are … Where We need Him … The bible readings today show that even as the book was written He was reminding folks that while the commandments may have been written in stone, all of the rules arent 🙂 … Just a thought from a guy that’s forever grateful that while he no longer has the bible his pappeye gave him 40 years ago, the same pappeye had taught him the importance of giving bibles away and then a few years later left his bible as a replacement….
