HOLY HUNGER by Tommy Gant

GUEST POP ALERT !!!!!!!

Hey, my name is Tommy Gant and I’m 30 years old. I’m the father of a handsome son named Lance and married to a beautiful wife named Destiny. I am a younger Pop, and I’m Cecil’s cousin. I just wanted to share with you all something that hit me last night while I was finishing up my theology class – 1st off; the definition of Theology is the rational, systematic study of God, His divine attributes, and religious beliefs, derived from Greek Theos (God) and Logos the (word). It involves interpreting sacred texts, analyzing religious doctrines, and understanding the divine-human relationship.

You see the class was a 12-week study to take a deep dive into the study of God. Last night was the final night and the teacher was just about done and was wrapping it all up! She ended the session with a self-reflection and practical application piece. One of the things she said was “we need to be filled constantly with a HOLY HUNGER”. Now she wasn’t talking about a hunger for cheeseburgers or cake, instead she was talking about the hunger for God. I wonder if you’re like me? Have you ever tried to fill this God shaped hole in your life with things that don’t fit? Some of the things that people try to fit in that hole: are food, sexual sins, drugs, alcohol, work, social status and even exercise. You see, anything can become an idol if we let it take the place of number 1 in our heart!

I want to fill my God shaped hole and hunger with God, how about you? We MUST fill ourselves with the word of God daily, so that we can become ambassadors of the Word! Followers of Jesus were originally called “followers of The Way”. So, I want you to take a moment today, and ask yourself – Am I a follower of the way? Have I given the number 1 spot in my heart to something or someone else other than Jesus?

Bible Verses:

Acts 9:2 / Matthew 5:1-6

Questions:

What is currently taking place as number 1 in your heart? Are you hungry for God and the Word of God?
