Back in My Day Wait Why Cant We Keep Both

my uncle Vernon got me a really cool fire truck when i was around the same size as lil’bit (a little older, but i was a small kid) … man, i loved that thing … it sprayed water and everything … and my mammaw Ruth’s “fancy dishes” … well, they got pulled out each and every Thanksgivin’, Christmas, and Easter for us to eat on (well, the “big folk” anyway … and i really was grown up when i was included in that crowd!) … now, that firetruck, not sure where it is anymore, but, pretty sure that anything that was built for kids back in the … um … when i was a kid … wouldn’t be safe for kids nowadays, so, let’s just say that a modern version of the same said thing is what lil’bit is playing with now but, on the other hand, as the oldest grandchild i was blessed with the same said dishes from above and the first Thanksgiving that we had with them here i couldn’t keep the tears away because it was as if Pappaw and Mammaw were at the table with us … the same room that started here in the house as a guest room, morphed into “og lil’bit’s room” has now transformed into lil’bit’s room and we can’t imagine it any other way now with the Cookie Monster chowing down the walls … i guess what i’m getting at is, just like our Bible Readings today show us, there’s things that we SHOULD hold fast to, so we can keep grounded and remind us of why we do what we do but we should NEVER let it keep us from moving forward … just a thought from a guy that tries to honor the past by constantly moving forward … whenever i get a round ‘tuit (if ya know, ya know!)

Bible Verses
