startin’ off with a newly learned pro tip here … for toddlers toddlin’ in the two to three range (say that three times fast!) a walk with them pushin’ somethin before the nap-time “discussion” usually leads to a much more fruitful outcome … just sayin’ … oh … and speakin’ of which, durin’ same said walk yesterday me and lil’buddy were out with the spectacular dino-mobile that his great aunt Hope (well, she’s pretty great to me, too!) had got him for his first Christmas gift … it’s still one of his favorites and we were out toolin’ the town in it when it struck me … when he first got it we taught him out to get into it and pushed him around everywhere, then as he grew, he wanted to push it by himself without getting in, then we “flinstoned” it and it’s now got no bottom so he can ‘drive’ it around the house, but in the neighborhood, he wants to push it, but only with his Pappeye walking along and helping guide him because the wheels keep going off the road … i was watching / helping / chuckling while helping lil’bit out and the Spirit hit me … wow … this is our Faith journey in a nutshell, taught by a two year old … when we start we need all of the help we can get, then as we start to “get our footing” we want to do more and more on our own and want to “tackle the world” only to find it’s a lot bigger and there’s a lot more questions out there than answers, but we never have to worry because our Father is always looking over our shoulder and there to lend a hand and keep us on the right path as long as we let Him 🙂 …. on a related note, when i was in my twenties i was helping MY Pappeye around the house one day when he asked if i could help him get the house ready at the end of the month because “the kids” were coming down … i got all excited thinking that some of my cousins were going to join my aunts and uncles on their upcoming visit and asked him which ones … he said … “my kids, of course” … i told him they were “old, like in their 40’s!” … and he chuckled and told me “honey, your kids will ALWAYS be your kids, trust me” … well, Pappeye, MY kid now has a kid of his own and you’re right, he’ll never be too old to not be my kid anymore than i’ll be too old to accept help from Our Father, who art in Heaven ………
