Caterpillar Cecil

got a question for ya … have ya ever been called off the bench, been asked to substitute, pinch hit, play second fiddle, second banana, ….. you get my drift not be the “first choice” in something … i dare say it happens to everyone at some point, more to some than others, and, well, honestly, i think SOMETIMES those are the best … some of my memories in life have happened only because i was asked (been “voluntold”) to do something at the last minute because plan a (or in some cases, b-k!) fell through … anyway, that’s what leads us to why a goofy guy would be in the middle of a church on an Easter Sunday years ago wearing shorts a tee shirt and, yes, fairy wings … you see, the Easter program at WBTS in the late 2000’s included a wonderful butterfly demonstration on Easter Sunday to go along with the teaching of the resurrection … this was not only very helpful with teaching the the message but something that the children (and parents) really looked forward to … which, became an issue one year when our butterfly guy was already booked on that day (go figure, i guess there’s more than one church, eh!) … well, rather than let the kids down, our committee came up with the most insane idea ever … ummm …. well, you see … but, guess what, even though i knew absolutely NOTHING about butterflies other than what the interwebs could tell me i DID know about the resurrection and what i lacked in experience i made up for in enthusiam which the kids and parents seemed to appreciate … the next year we didn’t check on our butterfly guy’s schedule and somehow my wings were simply dusted off … and for the next couple of years until that group of kids made it through the system, i was Caterpillar Cecil … coming up on this time of year i always look at those wings and pictures with a smile and just wanted to remind everyone out there that regardless of when, where and what He asks you to do, trust Caterpillar Cecil, it’s worth it 🙂 ….
