while breakin’ both mine and lil’bit’s fast this mornin’ (along with nearly a dozen hen droppings) i started a ponderin’ that these here eggs were a lot like a spiritual journey that folks can take … now, before you say “woah there buddy, i think you’re brain’s a little scrambled,” let’s think about this over easy for a second … you see, we start off our spiritual journey pretty fragile, just like those raw eggs … we have a blank slate as to where we can go and how to get there … there’s a LOT of sites/podcasts on the internet and a LOT of different opinions (um … i guess i’d be the pot calling the kettle black if i didn’t point out that i was one!) but, as a general rule, if you’re looking for good solid Christian basics, if they’re not saying that Jesus is the Son of the God who created the Universe and He came to save ALL of us then, at least in my opinion and from all of the teachings i’ve ever learned, then, you may want to look elsewhere … now, having said that and that’s out of the way, moving on … this is where it’ll be up to YOU (ain’t free will fun!!!!) … just like eggs, there’s a ton of different choices out there and while some like egg salad some prefer scrambled and others just boiled, and, then there’s folks like me that love an egg salad sandwich but also enjoy over easy eggs just as much!!!! …. you see, whether you choose to follow a ministry of care, teaching, outreach, operations, or a combination … that’ll be something that will happen as you grow in faith and will change over the years … your faith journey will “toughen you up” to where you’re no longer the “fragile” young Christian but instead a strong brother or sister in Christ … it doesn’t happen overnight, but, it will happen, just as eggs don’t go immediately from soft and runny to hardboiled straight away, but, it does happen, and, just like with eggs, if they’re tested too soon (or, in our Christian walk, if we try to put on “too much, too soon”) then, we’ll stumble … one MAJOR difference between the two is, unlike an egg, our maker CAN put us back together again … i’m going to close with a paraphrase from Phil Robertson, rest his soul, from a podcast i’d heard him in years ago … he was talking about right after he was saved and was not sure what to do … he had a 1,000 questions for his preacher and his mind was going 1,000 miles an hour … his preacher told him to “stop, breathe …. remember 1) Love God 2) Love Your Neighbor 3) You’re going to mess up … when you do ask God to forgive you and then remember steps 1,2 and 3 and repeat) …. “
