Eat Play Love

ok …. askapoplogdate 260107 😛 … today while makin’ lil’bit some lunch and watchin’ him play (maybe joinin’ in, too!) i remembered a conversation i had with a buddy of mine a couple of decades ago and figured i’d share … you see, it was with a friend but could have just as easily been an earlier version of me maybe 8 or 10 years before that (yup, the guy in the Trek uniform!) …. the friend had asked me what i’d done the previous weekend after sharing with us his weekend of golf and clubbing, when i mentioned church and playing with transformers with my 10 year old he said “i don’t get it” … i told him that one day, he would … years later he informed me he did … just as some guys are ready for marriage at 18 and others aren’t until 35 (and some never are,) it’s not something that can (or should) be forced, but, once that transformation takes place, WOW … all of a sudden things that meant so much before mean so little, unless they can be shared with the ones that mean the most to you … and things that never meant anything before all of a sudden become very important … thinking back to the day we got married and we joined our “flames” together, mine was still there, as was Toni’s, but, now they’re stronger … you couldn’t tell mine from hers, nor hers from mine, and that’s the way it should be … and when our lil’bit came along, the flame grew, and when his love came along, it grew even more, and when they had their own lil’bit, it’s even higher now … some things, like my love of sausage gravy, will get passed down, and maybe lil’bit will end up liking trek (his dad doesn’t, but, i’ve got another shot with the next generation (ha! see what i did there!)) but, in whatever he ends up liking, loving, and even disliking, we will all be amazed just as we were when his dad did the same … away team out …. beam me up …
