for anyone that has a toddler around the casa one thing is absolutely clear … once they hit a certain age, toys around and about are … well … a thing … now, to counter this, we’d created a fool proof method of organizing them into boxes that worked for about 2 weeks until lil’bit figured that the best option was to take said boxes and “Godzilla” them in our living room as if it were downtown Tokyo (but, wait, he ain’t even seen that one yet!) … so, a new solution was needed … strapping on my tool belt i went out to see what supplies we had on hand and that’s when this one hit me … you see, i started thinking about the first project we made lil’bit and how we planned for it to look and how he’s already started leaving his own touches on it even while under so much of our control and while he grows and has more and more say so over what’s going on in his room just how much the things that we build for him will change … and, while i was building his new toy chest (for now), it gave me great joy to know that i have absolutely NO IDEA what it will eventually become because, with God’s help, his parents guidance and lil’bit’s strong personality, he will become his own boy, young man, and, eventually man one day and whomever he becomes we will love unconditionally … one of the most fun (and difficult) lessons that i teach in my Sunday school classes (remember, i teach the youth) is about free will … it goes something like this … “how many of your parents are happy when you clean your room ???? now, how much happier are they if you do it WITHOUT you first being ASKED/TOLD to do it first ?????” … one is doing something because you’re told to do it, the other is because it’s your free will and you still WANT to … they love you either way, but, if you want the answer to free will, there you have it in a nutshell” … anyhoo, now, if you’ll excuse me, i’ve the the mostest important job in the world, helping our toddler arrange a toy box !!!
