you know, this is the first time in a couple of years that i’ve actually taken a full week of work off ??? we had grandiose plans to do lots of stuff, couples stuff, family stuff, introduce lil’bit to things he’s not done before, etc etc etc … but, that’s when life looked down and laughed and said “ha … hold my Dr Pepper!” … (side note, you know the difference between Dr Pepper and Mr Pibb, Dr Pepper stayed in school !!!!) … anyhoo, we knew we were probably in for it with 2 teachers in the family and my beloved mentioning how many kids were either out or doing their best audition for cold medicine commercials at school last week …. SOOOO, when our daughter started getting sick, well …. deck the halls with the flu virus cough cough cough cough cough sneeze sneeze sneeze sneeze … now, we could take this a few different ways … we could (a) be really upset and mad that the flu ruined our first family vacation in awhile (not really productive, i don’t think, since we can’t control it!) … (b) stay holed up in bed and pretend it will go away (better than “a” but, still think that we can do better) … or (c) how about let’s count our blessings … you see, the way i look at it, yup, we’re sick, ugh, but, that also means that we’re WELL most of the time, which is a blessing all to itself … we also are sick TOGETHER, so, while it’s not ideal, we do have the love of one another to lean on … we can also be thankful for tea, honey, medicine, and a whole host of other things that can make us feel better, but, topping that list is our Creator who makes us feel better just thinking about Him 😊 … honestly, would i have rather NOT stayed up most of the night with a toddler that didn’t understand why he was uncomfortable, absolutely, but, i am thankful that God put me here to be by his side to comfort that little guy in his time of need … while the turkey may or may not be cooked, i can guarantee this house will still be filled with just as much love, gratitude, and thankfulness as any and every thanksgiving thanks to our Savior’s lesson of what TRUE gratitude and thankfulness is 😊 …. just a thought from a guy that would probably be a good spokesman for several different over the counter medicines right about now 😛 …
