today we had our community garage sale and we didn’t participate … now, don’t get me wrong, we absolutely LOVE our community and LOVE our garage and LOVE making money and have a TON of stuff in same said garage that keeps gettin’ in the way of us being able to do gararagey stuff like woodworkin’ and clothes and woodworkin’ and projects and woodworkin’ and gardin’ and woodworkin’ and did i mention woodworkin’ ??? 😊 … but, i digress … you may be sayin’ … ummmmm … cec … table … chair … money bucket …. Play Monte Hall for a few hours and “Let’s Make a Deal” and call it a day … but, there’s a problem with that … one that i hope and pray each and everyone reading and listening has one day if you don’t already have … you see, while there may be room in our living room for some of the really “stand out” heirlooms that have been passed down to me like my beloved mammaw ruth’s china and pappaw’s remembrance bible that was given to me at his funeral, there’s boxes and boxes of memories and treasures that we have that have not been able to either find pride of place in our home or one of our relations homes since their original owner has joined the church of New Jerusalem … now, if we sold or donated these items, the stories with them would be lost in time, but, as long as the items are with us, the stories are firmly there too and, when they are transferred to a new owner, so will the stories, which is worth WAY more than any money that they could be worth … we are lucky enough to be living in a digital age where we can, literally, store much of our lives on-line and in the cloud, but, tangible memories of our ancestors MEAN something … just a thought from a guy that will gladly forego woodworking a little longer if it means a new generation gets to know just how great those who came before him were !!!
