what’s a metaphor … to graze in !!! (that one got me on more trouble that i care to admit in more than one English class over the years, but, i still laugh at it!) … but, you may be thinking “what an idiom” 😛 (ha! see what i did there!) … ok ok ok … enough … enough on with the show … today i was thinkin’ ‘bout lunch (when am i really not, right!) when that reminded me of my beloved and our union of the last couple of decades -vs- some of the other unions i’ve seen that, well, let’s just say they were more of a “we should have given them the gift receipt along with the wedding present” if you get my meaning ☹ … now, i’m no Dr Phil, but, i’ve learned from folks that have both succeeded and those that have failed in relationships and for me, it’s a pretty simple formula … God then spouse then kids then family then everyone else … in that order … using the analogy of the different lunch choices pictured here … the cracker sandwiches are a fast and easy way to fill me up but there’s absolutely NO room for change, adaption, learning …. and, guess what, life happens whether we want it to or not … the woman that walked down the aisle over 2 decades ago was the most perfect woman in the world and if i could i would have asked that she never changed a bit, but, i knew that wasn’t going to be the case and i knew she was going to change and i’ve loved learning each and every NEW thing thats changed along the way 😊 … the “goober grape” option allows for us to add more or less but doesn’t allow for anything other than a 50/50 split (which folks say is what a marriage should be but, lemme tell you, it ain’t!) … when my mom was sick and getting ready to go to New Jerusalem i needed Toni to take the lead and bear more than her fair share of the stuff at home while i took care of my mommy just as she needed me to when it was her turn to do the same, so, this 50/50 stuff is great on paper, not so much in reality … sometimes there’s more peanut butter needed and sometimes more jelly (i’ll let you decide who’s who!) … and, finally, the last pic isn’t of food, it’s of our actual wedding day, because, honestly, it’s not just us … it’s our family … without ALL of them, we wouldn’t make it … it does take a village and, if it’s not the family that makes you, it’s the family that takes you, but, make sure you have one !!! now, i’m gonna go enjoy a sandwich while thinking about my gorgeous bride … have an awesome day !!!
