buckle up for storytime with mr. cecil … i’ll warn you, there’s some bumps in this one, but, it’s not a sad ending … you see as many of you know i’m a noticer … i love to watch people and tend to notice things, especially how parents, well, parent (don’t worry, i don’t judge, i just watch) and, it makes my heart sing whenever i see someone going out of their way to make sure that their kid always comes first … that’s where this story begins … i would see this guy doing the best he could, and i could tell he didn’t have a lot in the way of “worldly things” but, would always be going above and beyond whenever i saw him with his daughter, and, i would always see how crushed he was whenever he would hand her off to her mom at the corner of the grocery store parking lot (i assumed the designated “hand off” for the co-parenting arrangement) … anyway, one day for a reason i don’t remember i’d offered him a ride (i think rain?) and he accepted … turns out he was blind in one eye and could barely see out of the other … we started talking, and, without taking too much of your time, a friendship developed and i started taking him and his daughter to both WalMart and Publix on Saturdays when he had her and took him on the weekends he didn’t … by doing this his money went further and it also kept him from having to walk groceries home and didn’t have to pay for rides … this friendship has went on for years now and recently i was honored to help him along his journey to change churches to New Jerusalem … this has left several of us heartbroken that knew and loved him here, but, knowing that he is a man of faith, we know that it’s truly not “goodbye” but simply “see you later” allows us all to know that he’s not hurting nor in pain and is whole and we will one day see him again, so, truly, death has no sting … i do hope that you’ll keep his entire family in your prayers right now as they are all hurting (he left behind an adult son and daughter as well as a younger daughter) and they’re missing their beloved father ….

Questions
Death is such a scary subject, but, for believers, it’s not the end, it’s only a transition … how do you feel about it ??? how were you taught about it ??? how do you feel about it today ???
