a couple of confessions …. first, i was in my 30’s when i went to my first VBS, and second, i was absolutely SCARED TO DEATH when by beloved wife asked me to start teaching Sunday school to kids years ago, but, a couple of decades on, it’s changed my life and i’m forever grateful for it 😊 … i always promise myself to make sure to keep it real, keep it fun, never lie to the kids, and always, always remember that they have an aquafer (I’m a florida guy now, so stick with me) that needs to be filled up … some of the channels are shallow and can be filled quickly with a quick “yeah Jesus” energizer, but, it may take YEARS of repeated love, consistency, and patience for the “deep” ones to get full, but, if we’re lucky enough to reach THOSE channels, then, guess what, we’ve got our next generation of teachers 😊 … so, the next time you see your class lookin’ off into the corner of the room or distracted with lizard instead of fully into the prepared lesson you’ve created, maybe see if the Spirit can guide you to see what they see and help bring them back, and, if not, don’t worry, because it’s a marathon and not a sprint … now, as we get into the heat of the summer, let’s all pray for the VBS teachers as they shepherd the kids a week at a time !!!
