when i was a kid i wanted to grow up to be a superhero and was fascinated by them … they would save the world (in 25 minutes each week) and always be on the side of truth, justice, and the American way … little did i know that the real heros were the ones that i was around almost all of the time … you see, these were the men like my dad, papa, and pappeye that would gladly give up a lunch or a saturday or an entire weekend if someone was in need … i joked with dad one day after getting off the phone with one of my neighbors when i told him that somewhere along the way i’d became the “Cecil” of this neighborhood and he said that that’s all he could have ever asked for … now, why am i bringing this up ??? today i had stopped by a mcrestaurant and on my way out some guys were standing over a flat … now, i was in a hurry and there was a hundred reasons why i could just keep on going but, dad, papa, and pappeye were the reasons i didn’t … 30 minutes later, good conversation and a now full tire and new friendships were made and they were on their way … I’m not bringing this up as something “i did” but, as a reminder to all Christians that witnessing isn’t always about when YOU are prepared to do it, but, when the Spirit leads you to opportunities in a restaurant, a lobby, or, yes, parking lot (just not in a movie while it’s playing, please don’t be that person!) … and, to all of the “dad’s, papa’s, and pappeye’s” out there, for us, we need to remember that while we’re teaching with our mouths, we’re teaching a LOT more with our actions … just sayin !!!! … oh … and, this is in no way dinging the “mom’s, nanny’s and mama’s” out there … just, with father’s day coming up, well, you know !!!!
Bible Verse
Galatians 6:1-10 / Deuteronomy 6:1-9
Questions Do you have any stories of superhero’s in your life ??? Do you witness outside of church (if not, it’s ok, it’s not an easy thing to do!)
