Transitions and Memories

while getting lil’bit dressed this morning i took a look at the dresser that i’d had all my life … before i left home, my dad had taken the time to sand and stain it to give it a second life after 18 years of a rowdy kid beating up his original handy work and, because i was now (mostly) an adult, the next 35 years or so had meant that it had stayed in really good shape … i have a feeling that a good sanding and staining will be in order when lil’bit needs to take it with (if he wishes) … and, it’s remained a dresser all of these years … each time I look at it, I think of my dad and it brings both a smile to my face and a tear to my eye for the man that taught me so much and knowing he’ll never be here to teach me anymore, but, that’s how life moves on … so, in that fashion, a toy chest that will one day be a, well, who knows what, which will then become a, well, who knows what then, was built by myself and my son for lil’bit so he’ll have something from his dad and pappeye to take with and look back on … since it was built and put in his room it was first, well, a display piece, but, as his “toddlerdom” hit, he’s fixed it up the way HE wants it and it fills my heart with joy to see him using it NOT so much the way we’d planned, but, the way he’s planned, which is exactly the way it should be 😊 … now, this all reminded me of a couple things from the Bible (duh, that’s why it’s an ssa :-D) … the dresser’s never changing role throughout all these years standing as a sentinel is God …. our faith can sometimes waiver or we fall short (that’s the dings and scratches) but, we can ask for forgiveness and repent and be cleansed and made whole … now, lil’bit’s cabinet kinda reminds me of Saul/Paul … he started out one way and then turned completely around into another … it’s an awesome story and is actually the Bible reading for today … have an AWESOME day and God Bless !!!

Bible Verses
