His Will Be Done

ok … todays ssa comes with quite a bit of a bible lesson along with a real shout out to the dramatization of the “House of David” that just finished season one on Amazon Prime … first, the bible story (and this is definitely the “cliff notes version!”) … you see, Israel wanted a king, so, God had His prophet Samuel anoint Saul their king, and, for quite awhile, Saul did what was right and good, right up until he didn’t … once he started to think that HE was in charge (instead of God) it was time for a change, so, God had Samuel go find another … a warrior you’d think (you’d be wrong!) … one of the leaders of one of the tribes ?? (again, nope) … how’s about a shepherd boy!) … anyway, it’s a long story (a good one, definitely worth the read, i wont spoil it!) so, God picked David and had Samuel anoint him with oil … David ended up playing a harp for Saul (who didn’t know he was anointed) and ended up slaying a giant (again, a great read!) but, during all of this, Saul DID find out eventually and got cranky with David and tried to have him killed … well, that’s the back story (and the back story for the House of David) … anyhoo, one of Saul’s son’s, Jonathan, does become one of David’s best friends, and, in the dramatization, they have a scene where he figures out that David’s the anointed one (this DOESN’T happen directly in the bible, and they’d taken liberty to tell this part) … anyhoo, during this scene, you see the actor playing Jonathan have a moment of pain as he realizes in that split second that he has to choose between his God or becoming king, and, just as quickly, he chooses God, … now, thanks for sticking with me to get to my ssa …. watching this reminds me of the events of Holy Week when Jesus is in the Garden and praying, “not my will, but Yours” …. i wanted to publicly give a shout out to Amazon and the creators of that show for putting on “digital” film such a great example of how much some sacrifice to choose His Way, and how much better the world is for it !!! … have an AWESOME day !!!!
