Peek a Boo … He Sees YOU … Do You See Him

Gonna start off strong here and venture to make a wager. Bet (HA, see what I did there!) you thought you’d never see or hear that on a devotional, didja? Welp, without even knowin’ what y’all did for lunch yesterday (no, no, no — these confounded computers ain’t two-way spy gadgets, at least this site ain’t)… I’d wager to say I had more fun than most of y’all. That’s even though I was smack dab in the middle of a 15-hour work day that started at 2 a.m. and, before lunch, I could hardly see two feet in front of me.

How’s that, you say?

Good question. I’m so glad you asked.

After sharing a fun-filled feast full of filets (say that three times fast!) with my lil’ buddy, we played hide-and-seek for at least 15 minutes. Him running around the living room, finding ways to get me “out of sight,” then popping up and yelling “peek-a-boo!” and giggling.

It’s one of his new favorite games, so it’s one of mine too. It teaches him he can start to stretch his wings, knowing someone loving is still there, looking out for him, watching over him. Hmmm. Sounds like a good peek-a-boo into a Bible lesson.

God pointed out that He knew Jeremiah from the jump and not to be scared, even though he had a lot of scary stuff to do — He would be with him. Isaiah was reminding folks that even in the midst of troubles God was there, is there, and will always be there. Caring for all of us and lifting us up “with wings like eagles.”

Just a thought from a very proud Pappeye that got more energy and nourishment from chasing around an almost-3-year-old than I ever did with those four fish filets yesterday. And that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
