I’ve “officially” suffered from migraines since my mid 20s. I say that ’cause before that I’d have “sick headaches” and whatnot but never saw anyone to get a word around it. Honestly, did it really matter? Turns out, yeah. Eventually.

As I got older, they got worse, and more focused. By my mid 20s they’d become a thing that affected relationships, work, life. So, time to get help.
I won’t bore you with all of the details, but for the next 20 years or so, “managed” was the term that best described them. When certain foods snuck into my pie-hole or certain weather patterns arrived or things happened, I had a short window to get ahead of the situation. If not, I was in a dark room for several hours to let the other meds fix the problem. Then things got interesting.

My migraines started changing. We weren’t aware of it at first, but with a loving wife, family, and brilliant neurologist, they figured out my migraines had migrated. Who’d have thunk they could do that. They still happen. But because of this, they’d put me on a medication to keep them calmed down.

I’ve never been one to trust in medicines, so this was a big deal. I’m happy to say that since 2025, I’ve had (and am currently in!) at least 6 migraines that would have before taken me completely out of commission for at least 4 days each. They’re just different. Calmer.

Moses knew his limitations and knew when to ask for help. God provided it in spades. Joseph sat in prison, and the Lord was still with him—giving him favor right there in the place he didn’t choose. When we ask for help, He delivers. Maybe not in the way we want, but in the way He knows best.
Just a thought from a guy that’s way more than just learned to live with a figurative thorn in his head. (Ok Ok Ok… you can queue the jokes now about “we always knew that you ain’t right in the head!!!”)
Bible Verses
Exodus 4:1-17 / Genesis 39:20-23 (40 and 41 if you can!)
Questions
What thorns do you walk around with (you don’t have to share unless you wish, this is more for silent reflection) … Have you asked God to heal them as HE sees fit ???
