He Loves To Hear When You’re Happy … He Also Wants To Hear When You’re Mad

I’ll admit, I was lucky enough to grow up in the sweetest sweet spot of them all. Well, at least of the last century or three, in my opinion. When I was a wee little lad, the old-school stuff was still what I was raised in. By the time I was 12, the VIC-20 was a thing and plugged into my TV. Long story short, rabbit ears and don’t answer unless it’s two longs and a short was a thing for Lil’ Buddy. By the time we hit Charley town, this newfangled HBO was a thing.

I need to fax someone to tell them about it. Maybe even call them from my car phone, now that we don’t have to pull out a dime and drop it in a pay phone.

Wait. Those ain’t a thing?

Communication sure does change. Some could say at the speed of light. Geek joke. From smoke signals to messengers. Letters to texts. Faxes to phones to cell and satellite calls. Heck, we now even communicate on apps that bypass the phone company altogether. But what are we saying?

As a partner and a parent, one thing I’ve learned is that the important thing is the communication itself. If someone I love is happy, sad, hurting, mad, meh, fill in the feeling. Talking, or funny faces, or even scowling, keeps the line open. I’d like to take credit for learnin’ that. Spoiler. My Heavenly Father is the bestest teacher on the planet…

Psalm 62 says trust Him at all times. Pour out your heart. Good day, bad day, Tuesday. In Job, the test is real. Friends pile on. Job loses everything and gets cranky, even with God. He never quits talking. And God, like the Father He is, answers. Out of the whirlwind. Right there for His child.

Just a thought from a guy that’s got way too many ways to fall behind on too many inboxes, and loves the fact that people care enough to send him messages.
