Somewhere along the way Tuesday got a bad rap. Well. Not really bad. Meh. Monday, that’s the bad rap. Everyone hates Mondays, except donut and coffee shops. Wednesday’s hump day. By Thursday the week’s almost over, and hey, Friday night is partay time. So I guess I get it. But we need Tuesdays.

Just like what Tuesdays represent. Let’s face it. Vacations are cool. I love me some sweetie one-on-one time. But hangin’ with my best girl by the lake in a stolen minute, or talkin’ on the way to work, or, well, Tuesday time.

Theme parks and cakes are great with my little buddy. But local parks, buildin’ a solar system on the coffee table, and watchin’ alpha-blocks while chillin’. You know. Tuesday time.
Readin’ thru the Bible, believe it or not, there’s a lot of Tuesday time in there too. Most of us only read the highlights, or the cliff-notes versions that get mentioned on Sundays. That’s totally okay. Heck, that’s why it’s brought up on Sundays. But if we take a little time, the Tuesdays make the Sundays way more meaningful.
Let’s look at Ruth for a second. An awesome woman who stuck with her mother-in-law and chose to follow God. A field. A man who noticed. Boaz.
If we read Matthew’s begats — I know, I know, the modern translations say “father of” — that folks usually skip, the Tuesday portion of Matthew, to get to the birth of Jesus, guess who’s in the list. Ruth and Boaz. Parents of Obed. Obed the father of Jesse. Jesse the father of David. Yup. That David. Huh.

Just a thought from a guy that loves his Sundays and big days most of all, but definitely knows the Tuesdays of life are what make them so special. Just sayin’.
