I had that window today. Not enough time to drive somewhere or make anything that needed boiling, baking, or preheating. Just “take off the box, insert in microwave.” But there was enough time for a step up from the peanut-butter jar.


No leftovers. So I went back to what I call my college meals. I keep them around on purpose. Warm hug from a thinner wallet. Back then it wasn’t fancy. It was fuel. It worked.


Nothing special at the time. Now they’re a reminder — the way a taste can take you to a place, a year, a table.
When the Israelites were starving in the wilderness, the Father rained manna. Enough for the day. Not a banquet. Daily bread, and a daily lesson: rely on Him.
That’s why, to THIS DAY, I still punch those two words when I pray the Lord’s Prayer. This day. The kids in class hear it. If you’re around me, you’ll hear it …
Because the promise isn’t only forever. It’s ongoing. Each day. Give us this day our daily bread — the manna.
Just a thought from a guy whose microwave had thoughts THIS DAY.
