Hymns by him for Him … Better With Them

Gotta question for ya…

Do you have any songs that, when you hear them, INSTANTLY take you back to a place and time as if hopping into that Delorean that Doc Brown built?

For me, “Undercover Angel” by Alan O’Day will instantly take me back to the over-chlorinated pool at “Rippling Waters”… a pool we went to during the summers of my childhood where a quarter (don’t laugh!) would get me a hot dog. There was a jukebox near the concession stand where that same quarter would get you three songs, and for some reason (I’m thinking it was always the same person that put the money in!) whenever “Undercover Angel” played, the next one up was “Still the Same” by Bob Seger.

Heck, just writing about it makes me want a boiled dog on a soggy bun, and I can smell the chlorine even now!

Songs do that to us. They make connections—lifelong ones that stand the test of time. There’s no coincidence that God put it upon David’s heart to pick up the lyre, and for Mary, Elizabeth, Hannah, and so many more to have songs in the Bible.

David, among others, penned the Psalms to be chanted and sung, allowing the words to flow through us and stay in our hearts and souls, making lifelong connections.

Just a thought from a guy who is so blessed to see so many angles in his life using song to teach the youth and spread the Word.

Questions

Do you have any songs that bring back memories like Alan O’Day’s song does to me ??
