Paper Streaming Cords or Cloud – He Just Wants You

Last night I was watchin’ a show (is that even what they’re called anymore?!) that was talkin’ about things kids today would not be able to deal with that we “old people” just found as a normal way of life growin’ up in the 70’s. (Don’t worry kids, my heart could take the laughing!!!)

One of the things they brought up was the TV. How it used to play the national anthem and then… poof… gone. No more till the morning news. Yup, that was a thing! Nowadays we spend hours lookin’ through countless streaming services tryin’ to find something we can half-watch while we’re splitin’ our time on social media and readin’ the spoilers and reviews about what we’re watchin’ at the same time. Whew…

Different world, I guess. Even when it comes to Bible Study.

In some ways it’s a LOT better. It used to be I had the one Bible. It had a whole lot of “thou’s” and “shalt’s” in it. And when I had questions I went to my four primary Bible resources: my Preacher (available on Sundays, but I stood in line and he was kinda busy), my Pappeye (was a long-distance call till we lived with him — he was always available), the library (who was Dewey and why did he count so funny anyway?!), and the primary one, of course… God!

Today, at my fingertips I read my digital Bible from the translation of choice, cross-reference it with my four other translations that I keep on standby along with the two favorite concordances, oh, don’t forget the AI assist, and then there’s Pastor John, my CE Director, and, of course, God!

A little easier… but want me to let you in on a secret? God downloaded that first set of instructions to us from the cloud to a tablet around five thousand years ago, and He’s not given a flip about what kind of technology we use to get to Him in the two million days since. He sent His Son around two thousand years ago to straighten us out and give us a clear path to Him — clear the board, so to speak.

He’s always been about giving us the right to choose. Choose which “channels” we have, how we live our lives. He continually gives us, through brilliant people that make it easier and easier to choose Him, paths to the Father. But in the end, it is always our choice.

Just a thought from a guy that is glad he doesn’t need the rabbit ears with tin foil on them to see clearly which channel has the best reception. 🙂
