Anchors Away … Old Spice At Your Service

Today we did a thing.

Somehow our spice shelf… well, somehow the salt and pepper and garlic decided it must’ve been a festive atmosphere, so they invited a few friends who invited a few friends who invited a few… Well, you get where I’m headed. And what the heck do you put tarragon on anyway!!!???!!! 😂

So after months of playing “where the heck is the one spice I need right now,” we decided to upgrade (hmmm… wouldn’t it be easier to just get rid of that tarragon? Just sayin’!).

But on the other hand, this does mean breaking out the power tools and getting to bond with the OG Lil’Bit… so tarragon gets a reprieve!

Anchors away… or should I say, anchors engaged. And while I was putting those brackets in, I started thinking about My Anchor — the One who holds everything.

Christ.

No matter what’s going on in life, no matter how wobbly things get, He is true north. He can be the calm in any storm.

Looking at all those spices (I’m looking at you, tarragon!) also reminded me of something He’s told us time and again: we are the salt of the earth. And His servant Paul reminded us to “salt” our words so they stay gracious to others.

Even something as ordinary as hanging a spice rack can be a small way of “feeding the sheep” — serving the people God has put right in front of us.

Just a thought from a guy who measures twice before cutting once… but still doesn’t know a thing about tarragon!!!!

How do you try to be the salt of the earth? Who is your Anchor?
