Ya know… way back in the olden days — when phones flipped and didn’t have Angry Birds or TikTok — we would actually go out into the wild of a city and… gulp… not take a water bottle with us everywhere!!!!
I know… what were we thinking!!!!
But when we did think it was going to be a super-duper extra-long trip, we had these extra-cool things called “canteens.” They pretty much guaranteed you would never have a date to the prom… but if you were ever stranded in a desert, you’d instantly become the most popular person there. 😄

We had water fountains. And when we were really thirsty, we’d buy a drink.

Back in the day, people pulled water from the well… which reminds me of a really important lesson that happened at a well.

A couple thousand years ago, Jesus met a woman at a well. He told her about her transgressions but didn’t drag her through the mud. Instead, He offered her “Living Water” (what we’d later understand as the Holy Spirit). He let her know that the water she drank from that well was good and wet… but the Living Water He offered would fill her soul so she would never thirst again.
I like to think of the Bible as my water bottles, canteens, wells, and even the drinks I buy when it comes to that Living Water. It lets the Spirit fill me with more and more of that awesome living water — some of which I can memorize (like certain Psalms and prayers) and some I study so I can share it in my own words even when I don’t have a Bible handy.

Just a thought from a guy who may have a problem when it comes to too many water bottles… but will never have too many ways to store the Living Water!!!!
