Freedom to Make Choices

It’s neat havin a toddler around again … Sure there’s now songs stuck in our heads that co-workers laugh at and toys that are obstacles for lower extremities …

But we CHOOSE to look at those not with frustration but with laughter and joy of seeing our little man “leveling up” each and every day …

One of his newest is his revelations that cake = birthday ….

The other day his mom was making a homemade chocolate cake (just because it was Monday) … All of a sudden, a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.”   When we asked who’s birthday it was, we were quietly told that each time cake came out, he expected that to be a thing … Ahhh … 😂

Speaking of birthdays … Tomorrow’s a big one … one of my uncles is celebrating a significant one … The big TWO FIVE OHHHHH … (man, he don’t look a day over 39  😂) … Of course, if you’re watching or reading this on the day it’s posted, then, tomorrow will be officially the United State’s 250’s birthday (Uncle Sam, as we like to call it 🙂 ) …

Years ago our founding fathers gathered, well, all around, but, many in Philadelphia, to make a scary choice … Choosing “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” at great peril and risking, well everything … Many of these folks were wealthy and could have stayed on the sidelines but chose to do what they thought was best not just for them but for their children, their neighbors, and the future.

Those brave choices remind me of the freedom God, through His love, gives us to make through free will … Loving us enough to ALLOW US to CHOOSE HIM … He never forces Himself upon anyone …

As Jesus told Nicodemus in that fateful talk that day, to be “born again” through Christ is to literally get to see things through His eyes … Nothing ever will be the same again … A choice that He so lovingly gives us to make …

And once it’s made … Well … Seeing isn’t believing, but Believing is Seeing … Because once you have Him in your heart, trust me … You’ll see Him everywhere 🙂 …

Just a thought from a guy that has now learned to sing Happy Birthday every time he sees cake, ain’t that neat !!!
