For those of y’all that don’t know … My “day” job consists of me workin with databases and grown up stuff … Some of which is teachin’ what i do … The teachin’ used to be a bigger part back when i was more involved with servers, but, it still hangs around … Now, why do i mention this …
Well … Whenever i’m workin’ with new folks and they’re wonderin’ why a nit-wit like me is flappin’ my gums i’ll start with a simple question … “do you know the difference between Knowledge and Wisdom” …
I’ve heard some hum-dinger of answers, a lot of good ones, i’ll tell you!!!! …. And, after listenin’ to them, i’ll offer up one … “Knowledge is knowin’ that a tomato is technically a fruit … Wisdom is knowing you’d never want to put it in a fruit salad …. Ya’ll are more likely full of more knowledge than i am today … My job is to help you with the wisdom part ‘cause i know the systems, and hopefully we can learn from each other” ….
It was that wisdom part that kicked in when perusin’ the grocery store yesterday with the canned chicken on sale 🙂 … Chicken salad time 🙂 … It’s the only time i’ll make it … The canned chicken is too expensive to justify it otherwise, and cooking it from scratch takes just too much time … No fruit salad needed 😀 …
This all reminds me of a buddy of mine, Solomon .. Way back in the day God asked him what gift He could bestow on him … Instead of riches or a long life or victory over his enemies he asked for wisdom to lead well … Pretty smart, eh (see what i did there!) …
Solomon actually wrote most an entire book of the Bible for us to share some of his wisdom, the Proverbs … The first time i read through it i realized a lot of the phrases i’d attributed to others in history actually came from Davids son !!!
… Me, i’m definitely no Solomon, but, every day i try to study a bit more to fill my noggin’ with a little more knowledge and also study the world to get a little wiser … The second part helps a LOT when life faces you with the important things like putting 4 black cats into your family !!!! “looney luna” is way different than her sister mara but we love them both the same and although they look identical, one can be picked up and the other … Well, not unless you’re wearing gloves 😀 !!!!
