A sprinkler repair leads to a devotional about prayer time … If that’s not a reason to pray for my wife, well, i don’t know what is 🙂 … Welcome to a peek inside the hamster running underneath the disappearing hair on top of this guy’s head.
As i was watching Gabriel (fitting name, eh!) finish up after replacing a couple of faulty valves that had kept our lawn from getting watered properly. There it was … the Spirit hit me with … Wow … THIS is what happens when we go without regularly scheduled prayer time … Time with Him …
Missing a session or two may not seem like a “big deal,” but it could quickly become a habit. Before long, we start showing dry patches … A real need for connection with Him…
Sure, while the system is broken (and even when they’re working perfectly,) if there’s a need, we would go and run an extra cycle or take the hose out and give a “patch treatment” to make sure that the extra coverage took hold …. Hmmmm….
After Gabriel left i kept thinking in earnest about this … About our prayer times … The daily, weekly and “special” prayers that we make … Some corporate and some private … How we’re teaching lil’bit and how much joy it brings us when he shout/sings “Amen!” in that toddler voice he has …
I also thought about how many times a day i stop for quick prayers … supplication, intercession, or simple “thank yous” … Nothing formal, sometimes out loud, sometimes just in “soul language” …
It’s funny, maybe that’s not the right word, it’s RIGHT, that each time that happens … Whenever we take anything to Him in prayer … Whether it be in corporate or in private, how our grass always seems to look a little greener on our soul 🙂 …
Just a thought from a guy that now has his sprinklers working and will soon have a green lawn once again … But you don’t need to envy it … I’ve heard that’s not a good thing to do 🙂
