I’m makin’ a list and checkin’ it twice … Ummm …. I do have a belly and a white beard … Wait a minute … Wrong time of year and i definitely don’t have elves !!!! This is about shoppin’ lists … Or is it ????!!!!????
As i was makin’ mine today i got to thinkin’ about just how much we rely on them. Over the years my way of making them has changed … From “i got this” which means that i go in with the list in my noggin and end up forgetting half of what i really needed and finding out i have 14 boxes of popcorn in the pantry later (true story that Toni won’t let me live down!) … To later on, the tried and true “book-em Dan-o” flip up notebook that worked great for me (other than the fact that no-one else knew what was on that pad!)
When a teenager got into the mix, i went into full geek mode and introduced spreadsheets and pivot tables … Neat for me but still no-bueno for the family … Until we finally found something that works … A shared family note system …
They all put stuff on the list and then yours truly treks through the stores on Saturday morning as a Hunter Gatherer … No spear, but, checkbook and tablet in hand to conquer the great WalMart-O-Sauraus to deliver provisions back to the castle, cave, castle ???? 😀 ……
Now, Imagine if we couldn’t write things down … Heck, imagine if READING wasn’t an option …. For thousands of years, it wasn’t for most people … And, for some even today, it may be still …
That’s why God inspired David to write some of the most beautiful, encouraging words in history … Words that can be sung and remembered … Passed down from generation to generation … They’re called the Psalms of David …
We typically read them, fine, but, most were meant to be sung … You can think of the Psalms like a Spiritual hand to hold whenever you don’t have a Bible handy … Different Psalms that you can memorize to simply warm your soul and remind you God is with you. They’re love letters from God through His servant, David …
Just a thought from a guy that definitely won’t forget his list nor his Savior !!!
