Ya know, before i started teachin’ the youth (that’s church speak for teenagers!) i taught the youngens as the “mad scientist” back when we did a rotational model of Sunday school … The reason i’m bringing this up is because as i was walkin through the house the Spirit caught me and reminded me of one of my favorite lessons …
It involved essential oils, olive oil, flip flops and Limburger cheese … The kids got the message and i got the stink eye (pun intended!) from more than one parent 🙂 …
You see, we were teaching about the early churches and how they were getting set up, and one of the old terms that kept popping up was diakonos … Meaning servant (or minister) … Some also say it means “raising dust” or “dirty feet” … Which is where the term Deacon came from that is still used today in many different churches …

When you think about it, a lot of thought goes into what protects our soles, consciously or not … I wonder how many of us put that much thought into protecting our souls ….
Good thing there’s deacons out there looking out for us!!!
