Give Me A Ring Sometime

Ya know something that i both miss and don’t miss … The sound of an actual phone ringing … (for folks born after 2000, that’s these things that had cords and a bell that made a crazy sound before they could send texts and embarrassing pictures!) …. A good ole’ “RRRRRIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG” would really get our attention with no caller id available, was it a friend, a foe, a bill collector, gulp, the boss ???  Nowadays, if our phones “ring” at all, it’s usually some digitized noise and we always get to see who it is (a lot of times, i just get hungry cause “SPAM” keeps calling!) … So, we can see who it is … But, ever since we had ability to associate songs (or snips of them) to ringtones, you know what, i’ve done just that 🙂 …

First, my “main tone” is for everyone to hear … It says more about me than it does about the caller … “Everything is Awesome” … Says more about me than about the caller … Teamwork is one of my core qualities … Then I have what i call the “get off the couch” tones 🙂 … When the phone is somewhere else and it’s the end of a 16 hour workday and everything MAY be awesome, but, i need a break … However, these are the folks i’d walk over glass to get to 🙂

  • “Amazed” – My One and Only
  • “All-Stars” – the folks that may not be blood, but much deeper if you know what i mean!!!! …
  • “Father Abraham” – some of our closest Church Family members
  • “Country Roads” and “China Grove” – relatives in respective states 🙂
  • “Workin’ for a Livin’” – some of my my co-workers …

It’s really easy to bash on technology these days with all of the scary new things that are always coming out, and there’s plenty of things to be cautious about. But, having said that, we always have a choice on HOW we choose to use the tech at our fingertips. Whether it’s as advanced as AI helping with Bible Study or as simple as setting a different ringtone for different folks or something in the middle like setting up a family group chat like my beloved uncle has done for our family.

… For this guy, using technology to help me stay connected to those that mean the most really does make Everything Awesome (queue the dancing Legos!)
