Did you have “Mike Tyson Quote in a Devotional” on your bingo card ??? If so, yell BINGO !!!! “Everyone’s got a plan till they get hit in the face” !!!!! 🙂 … Yesterday was one of those moments for our household … Living in Florida, the AC is a necessity and all of a sudden, it’s no longer working going into a holiday weekend AGAIN (same weekend as it was the year before!!!!) … The news was much worse this year .. Time for an entire new unit … YIKES …
Several different emotions went through this guy’s mind in a matter of a few seconds …. I am only human afterall … But, first and foremost, the very nice man that was delivering the news to me had been nothing but professional, so, while there may have been a storm of uncertainty about what to do in my chest, i had PRAYED for the SPIRIT to CALM me enough to treat him with every bit of love and respect he deserved in that second so i could figure this out and call my boss (the wife!) and get the answer 🙂 … I asked him when he would need an answer by so we could get cooled off over the weekend and he gave me more than enough time to make phone calls and left 🙂 …
This reminded me something that had happened years ago when i, um, had an “incident” involving an RV and a Tree 🙂 … When i got out to examine the mishap and the OG Lil’Bit got out too, a near by camper came over and said “son, you’ll wanna go back into the camper, your dad’s about to say some really bad words” … Without missing a beat, lil’bit said “my dad don’t use those words” … At that moment the camper could have literally been on fire, i could have cared less becase i realized that what we had been doing and modeling WAS working …
Just last week we were teaching the kids in Sunday school about the importance of being a “walking Bible” … About how many people they encounter in their lives that will be introduced to Christ and possibly only know Him through the actions of others… Does that mean we have to be perfect all the time, absolutely not, only He could set that standard, but, to walk in His shoes means to strive to be like Him … Today a new AC will come in, the temperature in our house will cool back down, but, thanks to Christ, our TRUE temperature never truly rises …
Just a thought from a very grateful guy who has a plan even after he gets punched in the face 🙂 ….
