How You Doin

Got a question for ya … If someone asks you “what do you do” what’s the answer you give ??? For years my first answer was something along the lines of “computer geek” or “server guy” or … Well … You get the picture … And, you know what … That IS accurate, because, it’s a part of me, has been for, heck goin’ on 2/3’s of my life at this point (man, i’m old) but … Is that truly what i DO ???

The people that know me, love me, put up with me, or at least don’t laugh at me to my face … When you ask them what i DO … Would i want them to list my professional skills ??? Hmmmm …. Don’t get me wrong, they’re important, but, man, that does kinda get ya thinkin’, doesn’t it …

Now, when folks ask me what i DO, it’s more along the lines of “annoy my wife” and i teach at Sunday School, have fun with the kids, play with my grandson and write devotionals on the interwebs … Oh, and i do work with databases to pay the bills …

The Bible readings today teach us to keep things in perspective … I’m kind of a simple guy, so, my motto needs to be simple too, just to make it easy for me … “God, Family, Friends, Work” … If I follow that order i tend to stay out of trouble … Does that mean that i still work an occasional all nighter … Of course i do … Life happens … But, it also means that at fifty-ahem i’ll strap on a pair of skates or take a day off to head to a theme park to visit the Cookie Monster with my grandson because C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me !!!

Bible Verses

Matthew 6:19-34 / Psalm 118
