This morning my beloved and i were chatting about the craziness that is the year end duties of a first grade teacher when i got a goofy smile on my face … Not because my wife was going crazy (that would cause me great bodily harm!) … No, it was because i realized just how lucky i was … Well, let’s face it, i married up, so, there’s that, and, there’s a gajillion other reasons why i feel lucky, so, there’s that too, but, in THIS particular case, it’s because although there IS a LOT of stress my poor wife has to go through, and extra work that she (and i, when i can help) has to do … I am one of the lucky few that have gotten to experience the “first grade school year” at least 15 times so far in my life … Add another 10 second grade ones to that as well …
Seeing the anticipation of the kids (and parents!) on the “Meet the Teacher” … The joy of the different seasons and holidays throughout the year through these young one’s eyes … The AMAZING CREATIVITY that the SUPER TALENTED TEACHING TEAM is able to pump into the lesson plans to make them their “own” and not look like something “cookie cutter” or manufactured, yet exceed every state guideline that’s given to them …
i’ve been lucky enough to get a “behind the scenes” glimpse at the meyhem and joy and wonder of how all of this gets done … Meeting the supporting cast and, when asked and when available, stepping in to help in small ways to grease the wheels to help make the magic happen for these awesome kids … To see fresh new ideas meld with time tested training techniques leaves this Christian Educator with a profound sense of awe and wonder …
The second Bible reading today is about the gifts of the Spirit … And, being married to a first grade teacher, trust me, i can vouch that a successful elementary educator needs to have ALL of the gifts in them to be that … And, my favorite teacher of all has them in spades … So, i wonder who’s your pick for the 2nd best teacher is out there, ‘cause i’m thinkin’ Toni has the Bestest Teacher on the Planet locked up 😛 …
