ya know, ever since our “OG lil’bit” was a lil’bit himself Friday night was pizza night … honestly, even before that I think it may have unofficially been, but, it wasn’t set in stone … but, once he came ‘round, it really kinda was … it was something that at least 2/3’s of us looked forward to each week (one of us, let’s just say the one missing a certain chromosome) isn’t into the round goodness as the rest of us are, but, absolutely enjoyed the tradition because that’s absolutely what it became … and still is … you see, whether it’s the hut, the dots, or one of our favorite locals, or, dare I say, frozen, we’ve got tons of choices and then we have tons of toppings to choose from, but when it comes to Fridays, our dinner plans are pretty well established thanks to the tradition … it makes us feel … comfortable … and that’s what traditions are there to do 🙂 … hmmmmm …. kinda reminds me of another one …. you know that Jesus was following one of the most important traditions of the calendar year with his 12 closest friends when he broke bread and had what would be his Last Supper (hey, that name sounds familiar!) … yup … if you weren’t aware … THATS how closely our traditions are tied together …. the passover reminds all of us of how God was able to lift the Israelites out from under the thumb of oppression and the Last Supper (what we, as Christians, call Communion) are reminded of (or see it as, depending on your faith and denomination) His Body, broken for us and His Blood, spilled for us … now, going back to pizza … there’s absolutely NO WAY that pizza is anywhere NEAR all of that, but, it’s a reminder that traditions, small and big, matter to keep bonds … family bonds … together … just like that dude said on that movie Fiddler on the Roof … Tradition …. Tradition !!!!
(ps … the cups were a gift from the Holy Land where we were given Communion at the Garden Tomb)
Bible Verses:
Exodus 12:1-28 / 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
