Heres a Story Now YOU Tell Me In YOUR WORDS

have y’all ever heard of the game “telephone” ??? you know, where you start tellin’ someone somethin’ and then they whisper it to the next person and then they whisper it to the next person and, well, that’s how Davy Crockett ended up sinking the Titanic while fighting Napoleon in the Civil War by running the Trojan Horse into the side of it … but, stories ARE important, especially when they come from someone IMPORTANT and when they’re TRUE and have a LESSON attached, well, that makes them GOLDEN … i was blessed to have awesome teachers in Pappeye, Papa, Dad, and Mom (and many more!) that all told AWESOME stories with lessons … Pappeye, after giving me my first Bible, would even challenge me when i would finish a Sunday School lesson or book in the Bible and tell him about it … he’d then say “Honey, how about you tell me in YOUR words what it means” … at first i was frustrated because, well, that wasn’t what my teacher OR the Bible taught, but, it was the BEST lesson i ever received, because by going back and praying and REALLY LEARNING what was in there, Pappeye had truly taught me how to use the Bible as a tool get the message that God was wanting me to get right then, right there … and that may not be the same meaning a dozen years later when i read the same scripture, but, that’s because God had a DIFFERENT message for me to receive … Pappeye was teaching me, in his own way, why Jesus taught in parables, so we can keep them with us as tools for a lifetime and pass them down through generations … and, let me let you in on a secret … that’s one of the big reasons we started this askapop ministry … we were so lucky to have some amazing “pop’s” in our lives (and i’m including mom’s in this too!) that we can share things like this with the rest of you, so hopefully they’ll never be lost to time … just a thought from someone lucky enough to have a lot of “pop’s” to thank …

Bible Verses
