as some of y’all know, saturday mornings are my time to make my weekly trip fill up our stocks for the week so we can then indulge in the wonderful culinary delights such as you’ve seen before (and will again!) on these posts … a few tricks i’ve found have made this not only advantageous for my limited time off, but also for my wallet as to not fall for the tricky marketing techniques that these stores have perfected to get us to “impulse buy” items while on the way … i first make a mental menu for the week then check our supplies for everything we’ll need (including the stuff that ain’t food like cleaning supplies!) and i put it on the list, i’ll then check with what’s been added by the other family members throughout the week (this is a shared online list so if someone in the house notices we’re out of something, they add it to the list so i can pick it up) and then check with our local store to see what they have on sale that can either be purchased off the list, substituted or maybe even added to it since it’s on sale (i’m lookin’ at you pop tarts !!!) and finally i make my list in the order that i’ll run into the items in the 2 or 3 stores before finally heading out to efficiently purchase the items as efficiently as i can … i’m sure you’re saying to yourself “thanks for the tip, but, just HOW is this a devotional again????” … 🙂 … great question 🙂 … you know, HE gave us the best “shopping list” in history … heck, even downloaded it from the cloud on to tablets (ha! see what i did there!) for Moses to share with us and if we need more guidance, we can pray for it (i’m including a chapter in Proverbs for doing “battle” with the budget each week) … all kidding aside, what i’m getting at here is if we can stop and put just a little bit of the effort that we put into making our every day life easier into asking Him how to do just that, it pays off in spades, maybe not in the way YOU expect, but, in the way YOU need … just a thought from a guy lucky enough to be able to buy groceries each week for his family 🙂 …
