ok …. i don’t think it’s a great secret here to share with y’all that i’m a Christian 😊 … it IS what this whole site is about, afterall … but, as you know, there’s many different denominations within the Christian faith and, to that, my belief (ha!, see what i did there!) is, hey, as long as the one that you’re finding God at and has allowed you to make that personal connection with Jesus, THAT’S the RIGHT one for YOU … ok … you’re probably wonderin’ where this is headed … you see, i was raised in a church that, while we DID recognize Ash Wednesday, we never participated in abstaining of anything for Lent and i’m now a member and elder of a denomination that kinda leaves it up to each individual, so, it’s something that i had to do a little more research on when i was in disciple class as to why friends of other denominations were, to different degrees, so faithful to this practice and … WOW … the meaning behind did vary from church to church and, honestly, from friend to friend, but, one of the BEST examples i saw was from one of my best friends … he and his son would literally wait in the parking lot at McDonalds on Friday nights during Lent and go into the restaurant at 12:01 to get double cheeseburgers … you may be saying he was mocking the meaning, but, i think that there is NO BETTER WAY to have emphasized the meaning of Lent to his son AND turn it into a tradition at the same time … now, i’m no biblical scholar by any long shot, but, when praying about this askapop what i started thinking was, how about if anyone that chose to give up something for Lent did so and took it a step further …. everytime they thought of THAT THING during the next 40 days they stopped and thanked God for being there and showing us the way … the pictures that i’ve shared today are from the Holy Land during our trip … one of me being re-dedicated in the River Jordan, 2 of the deserts and one of a field where Jesus is thought to have preformed the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 … may God bless you today, tomorrow, and always !!!!
