ok ok ok … i get it … there may be an issue here with my growing collection of top wear to go with my shrinking collection of what it covers i admit, ok, but, to use the idiom of lot’s of hats to wear figuratively, i do have that going for me too and have for several years … i could start naming them off but i think that would bore most of you and those of you that know me already know how many fedoras i’ve got bouncing on and off the noggin’ at any given time, but, having said that, on the way home from a birthday extravaganza last night my beloved asked me if i could believe that it’d been 2 years since we’d added grandparents to the list of hats we wore and i told her in some ways it felt like forever ago and in some ways it felt like yesterday that we’d started trying to figure out how the parenting hat fit, but, just like with every other hat we’ve had throughout the years with God’s Grace, patience, a sense of humor, and each other, each and every one of those hats has fit …. maybe not “just right” but, then again if they did then what would be the fun in that … the way i look at it, God put us down here in His image but gave us free will and gave everyone one else that same said free will, so, it’s a gift when a total stranger at a theme park smiles at you and makes casual conversation as if they’ve known you all their lives while waiting on Elmo’s Choo-Choo instead of the hundreds of others trying to look busy so as not to offend anyone, or the person that literally stops in their tracks to give a true thank you when you say something unexpected to them when they give a standard US greeting of “how are you” … i could go on for days, but, i think you get the picture … you see, whether it’s the work hats, the teacher hats, the friend hats, the family hats, they all have the ability to both share and receive blessings but we need to be able to recognize them … and as far as what we’re strong enough to handle with each hat that we’re presented with, honestly, NOT MUCH, but, through Christ who strengthens us, there’s nothing we CANT do, but, it’s WE and not i …. for those of you how know me professionally (work or church), you know that my email tagline has been (for years now!) that “Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork” … that’s not changing … (here’s a hint though, the captain of my team, and has been for decades, is a Guy that was there in the beginning, will be there in the end, and spoke the universe into existence, and He can be your captain too!) …. Merry Christmas everyone !!!!
