now … i’m not sure when this concept got started, but, being an old coot, i know it was some time AFTER my metabolism got to the point where calories didn’t count against me yet before i didn’t really care but have a wife that does so that does narrow down the window a bit, but, i do know what the concept is … ya get a bunch of “family you choose” together before the actual day of Thanksgiving to celebrate the same said day with the same said fixin’s and do the same said thing, just usually without much of the awkward “so what have you been doing all the past year since the last time we did this” conversations … i do think it’s an awesome idea, but i like the NAME of the idea even more … you see, the two Bible verses today tell us that the name of this “holiday” should be something we should be doing EVERY day of the year … heck, it’s in our family motto that my Pappeye had starting teaching to us 3 quarters of a century ago (it’s on our tuits, our website, youtube, and, you’re gonna hear/see it now … “it’s not what we gain but what we give that measures the worth of the life we live” … ya see, when i see or hear the word “friendsgiving” it makes me think of just that, friends giving … sure … money’s an easy one (no laughing, i’m serious, anyone can just put change or bills in a bucket) … how about doing something … when’s the last time you or a friend helped someone with an issue that you knew something about that they didn’t, not for money or for praise, but just because ??? … how about volunteering, and not just to get the tee shirt or the instagram post, but to help the sea turtles or clean up your neighborhood or even foster a puppy ??? will any one of these things change the world ??? nope … but, if each one of us looks for ways to help the world be a little better each day, then, friendsgiving day can be each day of the year … just a thought from a guy that, for some reason, wants to go sit on a couch in the middle of central park having a cup of coffee iykyk 😛 ….
