Toddler Taught Sunday School Lesson

now i don’t know ‘bout you but ‘round this house Sunday afternoons are already jam packed with a ton o stuff to do for Mondays on a regular Sunday, but, on this particular Sunday, you can add in that lil’bit is gettin’ over his first real cold, his parents are full on in the middle of same said cold, my beloved is, you guessed it, starting up with that cold AND having to prepare her class and lesson plans for an additional 9 students for the next couple of months, so, very busy, and after comin’ home from co-teachin a class after being up with lil’bit and his cold all night, i was pretty much wiped out and wanted to knock out as many “to-do’s” as i could while he was down for his nap, which leads me to the lesson lil’bit taught me on this Sunday … you see, ever since he became too big for his crib and moved to a big boy bed, nap time has become either a negotiation or a battle of wits with an almost 2 year old (trust me, they always win) … now, having been around the sun a few times, i’ve learned that the Boston song “Hold On Loosely” is the best approach here, so, while the world was still spinning by at thousands of miles an hour and everything important in the house demanding my attention you know what i did ??? i layed on the bed with my grandson and played with a toy piano and a toy dinosaur for a full hour before he was ready to sleep … some may say that was a wasted hour but personally i think it was one of the most important hours of the week for me … showing my grandson that he was seen, heard, and loved …. no, all chores didn’t get done that day, but, let’s be honest, when do they …  and we only have our children and grandchildren for a little while … and in that time we need to give them enough love and memories to get them through the good times and the bad … heck, just look at how many times i reference my parents and grandparents in these messages … just a thought from a teacher that learned a few things from a soon to be 2 year old …
