today while making my beloved some breakfast i was listen’ to the radio (that’s a podcast that don’t require the internet for you youngen’s!) when an ad came on talkin’ about a new fancy schmancy cookin’ device that seemed to do everything but go to the store and buy the food for you … heck, it even had wifi on it, so, i wouldn’t be surprised if somewhere in the directions it wouldn’t even buy the food too !!! … well, we’re (read that as ME) under strict orders by someone in the household that no new kitchen gadgets are to be brought in, so, there’s that … but, that did get me thinkin’ bout all of the “multi-tools” we have … there’s the one that’s actually CALLED the multi-tool, my dad’s shop-smith which actually has even more abilities when not being used for what it’s meant to be used for with all of those flat surfaces 😊, there’s our own cookery that seems to do way more than should be allowed, and, then, there’s the best multi-tool on the planet …. yup … you bet …. wait … y’all haven’t considered your Bible a multi-tool ??? it’s AWESOME …. first and foremost, it’s our line to God …. He wants us to pray before, during, and after reading it, listening for His still small voice guiding us …. these words are inspired by His servants throughout centuries and hold just as much meaning today as they did when they were penned … in addition, they’re GREAT reading !!! you need suspense, read Genesis, want some intrigue, Hebrews or Samuel, advice, Proverbs, a love story (yes, i’m not kidding!) Song of Songs … the Bible is FULL of wonders and adventures beyond any other book on the planet, hmmmm, maybe that’s why it’s the best seller … but, as stated before, the biggest reason to consider it the best multi-tool is because of the way it opens US up to His words … a lot of folks have asked me “which is the “right” Bible to read” … i’m no biblical scholar, but, i do have a litmus test and i’ll give it to you …. 1) Does it say unequivocally that God created the Heavens and the Earth …. 2) Does it say that Jesus is His Son and was sent to save us ???  and, this is just as important … 3) is it one that YOU’LL READ (if the words are too hard for you to understand or you’re picking one just because someone else reads that one and you would rather read a different translation, you’ll not read it) … if you can answer those three questions, then, that’s the right Bible for YOU …. The Bible i link in my askapops is the NRSVUE (New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition) because it’s typically found in a lot of the churches … the one i typically study with is the Gods Word because it’s the one that i can understand easier, but, i will cross reference regularly with several translations to make sure i understand what i’m reading … https://www.biblegateway.com/ makes this possible and they do it for free … so, now, if you’ll excuse me, i’ve got to go start building my case for why we need that new fancy schmancy kitchen gadget 😊
