exactly 2 weeks apart 2 of my dear friends joined the Church of New Jerusalem … the phrase “I’m Sorry for Your Loss” has had to come out of my mouth far too often in my lifetime for my liking, but, then again, maybe not, because that means that there’s that many people in my life that i have been blessed with knowing well enough to get to know the friends and loved ones of to grieve with them in their time of need …. you see, that phrase is something that i don’t say lightly because every word of it is TRULY meant …. and, it is THEIR loss that we are mourning at that time because the passing of someone from here to Heaven isn’t goodbye but “see you later” … we will miss them, we will mourn the fact that we won’t see them in every day life, but, as Paul had wrote to Timothy, “i have fought the good fight….” We can see that as Paul has written in the Bible verse today death has truly lost it’s sting … i firmly believe with every fiber of my being that, while my race is still on – going and there’s still work for me to do here, for both of my dear friends (and the many other loved ones that have gone before,) they’ve simply closed their eyes and the next time they’re opened, it’s in His Glory, and, since time isn’t the same there, for them, mere seconds have passed and we’re all together in that Glory, so, i’ll reiterate Paul’s message about death having lost it’s sting … does this make me “less sad” or happy they’re gone ???? absolutely NOT … i will truly miss the walks that i had with Mike and Sultan in the neighborhood and loved and cherished the times we talked about Christ and his love for animals and even his “The Ohio State” … and Mark … the conversations we had on the trips to and from shopping will be truly missed and the ride will forever be quiet from now on and i admired just how much he was able to unconditionally love his daughter and give her the world with what he had …. having said that, i’m not sorry for either of THEM, because, to bring this full circle, their race is run, their fight has been fought … but, i am TRULY SORRY for ALL of the people that these men impacted over the years … so, does that make the phrase “I’m Sorry for Your Loss” make any more sense now ???
