Along for a Ride or for Life

have you ever noticed that every wedding requires a picture of the “wedding party” … yeah, there’s plenty of those too, ‘cause everyone wants to see your aunt dancing the harlem shuffle … but, i’m talking specifically about the one with all the kings horses and all the kings men … umm wait, that’s one of lil’bit’s books … i mean all of the bridesmaids and all of the groomsmen … at first, i thought it was a way to make sure of an extra sale of a pic, but, after living life a few more decades, i honestly think it’s a not so subtle reminder to the bride and groom of just how important it is to surround your starting family with the kind of people that will help strengthen it and help it grow … it is, after all, newly planted and needs all the help in the world !!! … now, you may ask, what in the devil do the other three pics have to do with that 😛 … good question … you see overtime there will be disagreements and that will lead to hurt feelings … these can lead to rifts in the friendships and threaten relationships … let’s look @ lil’bit’s car there … once the rubber comes off one of the wheels, will it still roll … yup … but, not nearly as good as it should, and it can be “forced” … just like the friendship may be … but three words in our relationship toolbox are just like the tire fixer on his car …. “i forgive you” … it’ll get the tire back on and the car can get moving again … in the relationship, that doesn’t mean we have to forget whatever it is, but, forgiving means that YOU have let whatever it is go in YOUR heart … resentment, anger, hate, whatever it is … now, if your friend does the same, then, the relationship is whole again … it may never be the same, but, you’ve got a path forward, and, who knows, the new “tire” forged through the rough patch may even give you something new to grow on … just a thought from a guy that’s always hopeful that things can be fixed … and, even if both parties can’t, at least you’ve fixed your flat ….

Bible Verses
